Gay bar merida

Does it matter how male lover a city is? Sometimes I just go to a city just because I haven’t been there before and I’ll record about my experiences with the hotels, the meal, the culture, shopping, history, etc. And all that makes me content and happy. I may long for out on writing about the gay nightlife, businesses, and population. Sometimes it’s not the main center of my trip there.  Something else might be turning me on to the location, and it’s not always about the boys.

One of those cities I traveled to just a year or so ago and wrote about all the aspects without dabbling in the gayness too hard was Merida, Mexico, located on the Yucatán peninsula. I popped down there for Tianguis Turístico, an annual national tourism conference held in Mexico. La negrita

La Negrita is a great, inexpensive place for drinks and small plates. The vibe is really the finest part though. It’s crowded, full of music and laughter. This is a great place to meet both locals and tourists. Getting a table here can be tricky so plan ahead.

La Fundación Mezcaleria

This is an amazing bar. They’ve nailed everything: great decor/lighting/interior space; top song ( live funk band, followed by  DJ playing quite a varied mix: lots of reggaeton; funk; ska); fantastic drinks list; a fun and welcoming crowd (mostly locals, some language students & tourists too). Good vibes, wonderful times!

Merida is a very stunning vacation location, both inside and out. This lovely colonial city has earned the nickname “ciud blanca,” meaning “white city,” since many of its structures are white. The streets are organized in a grid style. However, the pastel-colored residences feel to outweigh the white ones, which gives a lot of vibrancy to Merida’s colonial design.
