Best travel destination for a closeted lesbian?
Hi folks,
My friend Cinda has just come to terms with her sexuality. She's a very nice old lady, who has recently realized she's a lesbian. She "came out to herself" a couple of weeks ago and has just confided in me. She has yet to explain her husband.
Anyway, she has some vacation day coming up. She wants to take a trip by herself so that she can "see some lesbians in their organic habitat."(Her words. I know...)
I told her they're all around the place. I gave her the "they're your doctors, teachers, lawyers" line but she just rolled her eyes. She says, "I want to see some REAL lesbians."
I was a little confused, but I think I understand what she wants: Some place where she can see lesbian culture.
So, is there a particularly good destination for lesbians in the US?
Thanks much!

It feels like this is the moment to write about travelling as a lesbian and why lesbian holidays are part of what WalkingWomen offers – and has always offered since the company began 24 years ago.

Many countries only recognize male and female sex markers in passports. They do not have IT systems at ports of entry that can accept other sex markers, including valid U.S. passports with an X sex marker. If traveling with a valid U.S. passport with an X sex marker, check the immigration regulations for your destination as acceptance can vary by country.
