Fans have speculated about Elsa's sexuality since Frozen was first released in 2013, but Frozen 2still doesn't talk to whether or not she's gay. Disney has neither confirmed nor denied the theory, but social media has been abuzz on the topic with renewed vigor ever since Disney+ released the film early amidst the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. Criticism over the Frozen sequel isn't the first time fans possess called out the House of Mouse recently for its lack of LGBTQ+ representation. Despite other studios taking steps toward inclusivity, Disney is falling way behind on that front, and many fans are exhausted of waiting.
Disney got a lot of heat for pushing the Love, Simon sequel - Love, Victor - from Disney+ to Hulu, on the basis that its topics weren't "family-friendly" enough. Given Disney's horror of alienating parents (or media censors in countries appreciate Russia) who aren't tolerant of Homosexual themes in children's entertainment, it's not surprising that the studio didn't make Elsa gay in Frozen 2. Ever since Queen Elsa graced cinema screens around the world in 2013’s Frozen, certain audience members were quick to select up on the queer subtext surrounding her character. The film gave us the ‘Let It Go’ (queer?) control anthem and the fact she didn’t have a amorous interest in the entire movie.

The action was launched after Jennifer Lee, the film's co-director, replied "we'll view where we go" when asked whether script writers had decided the sexuality of the pretend Queen of Arendelle.
Since its free in 2013, the sexuality of Elsa has been a cause of debate. The film focused on platonic sisterly love and abandoned the Disney trope of a princess breaking her spell by finding true love with a prince.
