Jade Carey is happy, and it shows.

In a new Instagram send, the two-time Olympic gold medalist announced that she has a girlfriend in what People reports is the first time she's publicly mentioned her sexuality. Carey's post shows she and girlfriend Aimee Sinacola smiling across a carousel of four photos, captioned simply “happy 🤍🔐✨💌.”

Sinacola, the director of creative content for University of Oregon Ducks, has posted Carey to her Instagram feed before, but this seemingly marks the first time that Carey has featured her girlfriend. Sinacola posted Carey's photos to her Instagram story with a simple “ILY.”

Sinacola also reposted someone's story about her and Carey's relationship, which said "Representation and visibility are so important. Sport will always be a catalyst for transform and inclusion. Takes folks being bold and their most authentic selves in these spaces. Haughty of you Jade Carey and beyond happy for you and Aimee Sinacola."

Olympic gold medalist Jade Carey has come out as queer and revealed her partnership with Aimee Sinacola in a joyful Instagram post. The post, captioned simply “happy” with a series of emojis, featured sweet photos of Carey and Sinacola together. This marks the first time Carey has spoken publicly about her sexuality, and the response has been overwhelmingly supportive.

Fellow gymnasts and fans flooded the comments with romance. Simone Biles called them “freaking cute,” while pommel horse champion Stephen Nedoroscik cheered, “GO JADE!!!” Teammates Suni Lee and Jordan Chiles, who were recently honored with Carey as Barbie dolls for International Women’s Day, also sent their congratulations.

Even the official Team USA Gymnastics account joined in, writing, “Always applauding your authenticity.” Sinacola, Carey’s girlfriend, works as the Director of Creative Content for the University of Oregon’s athletics department. I devoted to Oregon State at just 14-years-old and waited a whole seven years to finally start my journey here. I chose Oregon State for so many reasons but one that sticks out in particular is the family environment. From the minute I stepped on campus and met the gymnastics coaches, I felt linked and cared for. I know that no matter what, my team, coaches, athletic trainer, support staff and professors have my back.

My journey at OSU hasn't been what most would call the "normal" experience. I started off my journey deferring because of training for the 2020 Olympics and then eventually starting online classes from Arizona when the Olympics got postponed due to Covid. I just couldn't wait to get started in any way. After the Olympics in Tokyo, where I became an Olympic Champion on the floor training, is when I finally started my journey at OSU on campus. Jade Carey is enjoying another golden chapter.

After all, the Olympic gymnast recently hard launched her relationship with girlfriend Aimee Sinacola on Instagram.

In the March 19 post, the 24-year-old complimented her new adoration as “happy” alongside a ivory heart and a love letter emoji.

Alongside the message, Jade also mutual a few photos of her and the creative director posing together, with the final shot showing her riding on Aimee’s back as she flaunted the gold medal she won at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Many of Jade’s fellow gymnasts congratulated her in the comments, including her teammate Simone Biles, who called the duo “freaking cuuuuuute.” Her two other Team USA peers, Suni Lee and Jordan Chiles, also unified in on the fun: Suni, 22, praised them as “angels” while Jordan, 23, excitedly wrote, “Periodt!!!!”
