Winter Classic softball tournament on tap for early February

AAP – Sustenance Samaritans, in cooperation with the capital of Palm Springs and the Palm Springs Gay Softball League, is presenting the 30th annual Palm Springs Winter Classic Softball Tournament Feb. 4 through 6.
Eighty teams and hundreds of LGBT softball players will compete in the city during the event. Games will be played at Demuth Park, 4365 E. Mesquite Ave., and Big League Dreams Sports Park in Cathedral Urban area.
Games start as early as 10 a.m. on Friday (Masters Divisions). Games on Saturday will start as promptly as 8 a.m. and continue into the evening.

The public is invited to attend an opening reception Friday, Feb. 4 from
7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Hunter’s Nightclub, 302 E. Arenas Road.

Palm Springs Same-sex attracted Softball League
The Palm Springs Gay Softball League (PSGSL) was originally organized in 2004, by our Founding Fathers Tommie Douglas and Jim Hurst. The league began with 4 teams and approximately 50 participants. Today PSGSL has grown to 14 teams with 200+ participants.
PSGSL is a Non-Profit 501(c)3 Corporation. We are a slow pitch softball league, established primarily for GLBTQ persons in the Palm Springs area, but open to all interested players.
The purpose of the PSGSL is to foster local, regional, national and international sports competition predominately for gays and lesbians. We are devoted to the promotion of the amateur athletic experience for persons of all skill levels and abilities, regardless of sexual orientation, gender, race, creed, religion or national start. The primary center of the PSGSL is to provide venues for mature person slow-pitch softball match. Additionally, the company endeavors to grow people of all abilities and exposure to participate in sports competitions.

Palm Springs Gay Softball League sends four to Dallas

Four softball teams from the Palm Springs Gay Softball League (PSGSL) are heading to the prestigious Lgbtq+ World Series softball tournament in Dallas from Sept. 22-27.
The event is a special opportunity for many of the players in the PSGSL. Stephen Ridl, a right fielder for the Greyhounds, will rival in just his third Gay World Series in his 27 years of playing softball.
"It's very competitive so it's a large deal to qualify and it's a huge honor for us and the gay community," Ridl said.
Only winners of the four divisions (A, B, C, D) in the PSGSL are eligible to qualify for the Gay Society Series. The "A" division features the toughest competition.
The Gay World Serieswill main attraction approximately 300 male and female teams representing 40 cities in the Merged States and Canada.
The event begins with three round-robin games in two days. The teams are then seeded based on their records before tournament act continues with a double-elimination format. The championship is Sept. 27.

27th Annual Softball Tournament Features LGBT Players, is Free to the Public
PALM SPRINGS – January 29, 2018: AAP – Meal Samaritans (AAP), in cooperation with the City of Palm Springs and the Palm Springs Gay Softball League, announces the 27th Annual Palm Springs Winter Classic Softball Tournament will take place February 9 -11, 2018. The teams participating in the tournament, which benefits AAP, are members of the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAAA), a nonprofit company dedicated to promoting amateur athletics for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.
Registration and a universal opening reception will take place on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 7-10 pm at Hunter’s Nightclub, 302 East Arenas Road in Palm Springs.
