Assassin’s Creed Odysseywas nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for its LGBT+ visibility and romance options. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey also released a DLC which forced your potentially gender non-conforming main character to be straight in order to conceive a child. While many queer people do conceive, this is not presented as a multi-attracted lead entering into a heterosexual connection. Players had no choice around this conception, and after working hard to establish queerness at the heart of Odyssey, the DLC negated it in a single act.

In fairness, GLAAD nominated Odyssey before this DLC, and released a statement post-DLC which condemned the move, even if it didn’t quite walk back the nomination fully. But the mess around this sums up the biggest issue with the recent Assassin’s Creed; they can’t decide how progressive they need to be, they can’t decide who their audience is, and they can’t decide what they want to utter. Assassin’s Creed finds itself in the same spot so many of us did in tall school: Assassin’s Creed needs to acknowledge that it’s gay.

What to do in Philly this week

Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the ByrdCage would be the first queer prevent in Atlantic City in 20 years. It will be the first full-service LGBTQ+ bar and restaurant in 20 years in the city. There have been multiple gay nightclubs, including the Rainbow Room and Prohibition Bar, that were unlocked over the past two decades. This story has been updated.

The ByrdCage, which will be Atlantic City's first full-service queer block and restaurant in 20 years when it opens in soon January, has been a longtime dream of Jason Tell. While the name is a slight nod to the 1996 movie starring Robin Williams and Nathan Alley, the owner said it was a different film that gave him inspiration.

Tell said watching 2000 comedy "The Broken Hearts Club," which is centered around a group of gay friends in a West Hollywood restaurant, made him hope to start his own place like that. Now he has at 3426 Atlantic Ave.

How does everyone else feel about Ubisoft recent handling of their upcoming Shadow game? I feel it should of based with only two japanese people but clearly DEI strikes again.

I'm black and I'm heavily against DEI, woke, and Kind Baby Inc and all affiliates.

All Romance Options in Assassin's Creed Shadows (Video Guide)

Like most other action RPGs these days, Assassins Creed Shadows features romance options. They're fairly basic and largely inconsequential in the long run, but those who are into that kind of thing should still get a thrust out of them nonetheless. Players will be competent to flirt with NPCs at various points throughout the game by choosing dialog options with a heart next to them. Doing so will eventually lead to a dialog option with a Cupid heart, and selecting this will trigger an intimate moment.
