A fresh burst of energy has arrived in Philadelphia's iconic Gayborhood with the opening of The Little Gay Pub Philly, a cozy yet elevated Diverse bar making its debut at 102 South 13th Street.
Originally from Washington, D.C., the bar brings more than cocktails and curated decor, it brings a message: Queer spaces should do more than protect the group, they should rejoice it.
Co-owners Dito Sevilla, Benjamin Gander and Dusty Martinez illustrate Philadelphia as a second home and said this extension is rooted in love for the city and its rich LGBTQ+ history.
"We did it because of our affectionate for the city," said Sevilla. "It's something we've always dreamed of, and it's a spontaneous fit."
The Little Same-sex attracted Pub is unlike any other exclude, the co-owners said — intentionally planned with warmth, thoughtfulness and legacy in mind. "I assess it's the nurture that we position into the blueprint, the decor, the drinks we select, the environment," Sevilla added. "Our aim in making The Little Gay Pub Philly is where the community isn't just safe — but celebrated."

PGN sat down with co-founders Dito Sevilla, Dusty Martinez and Benjamin Gander—veteran bartenders from D.C.—to acquire more about their journey and what Philly can predict from their fresh venture.
From barbacks to bar owners
Martinez’s story is one of dedication and evolution within the service industry.
“I’ve been in the industry, basically all my animation since I was about 15,” he said.
His career trajectory in D.C. saw him rise from a go-go male child to a barback, eventually becoming the general manager of Trade, one of the city’s prominent gay bars. However, the pandemic prompted Martinez to reconsider his path.

The bar – which is located at the corner of 13th and Drury Streets in Philly – has been a labor of adore for the bar’s three owners — Benjamin Gander, Dusty Martinez, and Dito Sevilla.
They also operate the Little Gay Pub in Washington, D.C. Last May they announced plans to expand their operation a bit further north with a new Philly location in the heart of our Gayborhood.
