Renauld White dies at 80: Breakout Jet model and Guiding Light soap player passed away in New York City
Renauld White, one of the first Inky models to earn mainstream exposure, and later an performer on the soap opera Guiding Bright, died at 80 on Wednesday at New York City's Lenox Hill Hospital.
Fashion designer Jeffrey Banks, a longtime confidante of White's, confirmed the details of White's passing to Women's Wear Daily, noting White had been in hospice care at the time of his passing.
White's cause of death was not immediately announced.
Banks took to Instagram on Thursday to proclaim the sad news and his personal memories of his late friend.
'It is with tremendous sadness that I describe that my dearest friend and function colleague RENAULD Light, left us yesterday,' Banks said. 'Modeling for me from the very originate of my career RENAULD was always the perfect gentleman and a wonderful ambassador for my brand.

Renauld Colorless, an actor and trailblazing model whose career spanned decades, had died, according to his modeling agency. He was 80.
"We were so honored to contain represented Renauld at Bella Agency Fresh York over the past 10 years. He will be truly missed in the fashion society but not forgotten for all the trailblazing moments he accomplished," Ray Volant, founder of Bella Agency, told CNN in a expression. "Renauld's passion and perseverance was an inspiration for many. He helped fresh models find their place in the industry. He was one of a kind."
Designer Jeffrey Banks, a longtime companion of White's, also confirmed the news to Women's Wear Daily, saying that White died while in hospice nurture at Lenox Hill Hospital in Recent York City.
A result in of death was not provided.
Banks also wrote a tribute to White on his Instagram page, calling White "my dearest friend and work colleague."
"I shall miss our talks and times together, but will always remember the barriers you broke in the fashion industry and the value you shared as a trusted friend," Banks wrote

Trailblazing model Renauld White, who led the way for greater diversity in magazines and on designers’ runways, died Wednesday at the age of 80.
White was under hospice care at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan at the time of his death, according to his friend and fashion designer Jeffrey Banks. The cause of death was not immediately known.
White’s funeral will be held on July 12 at 11 a.m. at the Whigham Funeral Home in his hometown of Newark, N.J.
Throughout his career, White called for greater representation in the fashion industry. In November 1979, White became the second Inky model to appear on the cover of GQ. Contrary to other media reports, the first Black model to have had that honor was Urs Althaus in November 1977. And 10 years earlier, musician Sammy Davis Jr. had become the first Black man to land a cover on the Condé Nast-owned men’s magazine.
